"TOUCHED
BY THE HAND OF JACK"
Jack Casady, of Jefferson Airplane and later Hot
Tuna fame, strung, set up, played, and signed this guitar. A rare sunburst
finish 2000
Unlike all the other instruments
in this site, this is a new Bass, or rather nearly new. It was only used once, in a clinic run by Jack Casady in early
2000. In this clinic, Jack strung the bass up with Bluesteel strings and then did a complete set-up. After finishing
the setup, Jack played for over two hours, accompanied in person by Pete Sears (on keyboards). Once the set finished, Jack
signed the guitar and handed it over. It has only left its case a couple of times since then (close to ten years now).
There are two photos further down this page, one showing Jack playing the bass, and another showing him
signing it. Most JC Signature basses you see are gold. This is a very rare Sunburst model.

For those who do not know, here is some
background on this guitar:
Jack Casady worked directly with GIBSON (EPIPHONE) in the
design of this SIGNATURE BASS. It is modeled on the classic Les Paul Signature bass that he played for many years.
This one is a Maple top to the semi hollow body, with a custom single pick-up designed by Jack. It is a ‘low impedance’
type that is controlled by a three way switch that gives you the choice of three distinctive tones (warm full, clear sharp,
and loud rock & roll). Oh, and did I say, this is an Epiphone, not a Gibson, but Gibson own Epiphone and Jack Casady is
rock-n-roll royalty!
