Well, whether the EB-6 was first launched in 1960 or 1961, this semi-hollowbody Baritone guitar's serial number is A32045,
which places it's manufacture near the end of 1959. Quite feasibly it was shipped in 1960, making it one of only
34 shipped that year. And one of 67 made in the two years this bass was produced.
And, during its 49 or 50 years it found itself in the hands of arguably the greatest rock-bassist of all, John Entwistle,
who sold it in the late 1980's to the person I acquired it from. And yet, apart from replaced Tuners ( they are genuine Gibson,
but not original to this bass), and what I suspect is a refinish to the back of the head when the tuners were replaced (although
Rick of New Kings Road Guitars, who sold this bass for 'the Ent' in the late 80's, believes the black back of the head
and the "widows peak" or "stinger" are original), it has hardly suffered a scratch.
